CD/DVD Forensics Course
This two day course will provide the participant with a thorough understanding of the physical and logical structure of CD and DVD media as well as a thorough grounding in the use of the Infinadyne CD Inspector product for retrieving evidence from CD & DVD media of all types.
Candidates MUST bring a laptop with CD/DVD facilities. The course will be taught in a seminar room.

Training classes in CD & DVD Forensics including the use of CD/DVD Inspector are available.  This is a two-day class given by Paul Crowley covering the following topics:

  • CD and DVD construction and manufacturing and how this affects evidence collection and officer safety
  • Special considerations for new discs such as Blu-Ray and HD DVD
  • Basic forensic considerations for collecting and handling CDs and DVDs
  • Disc "triage" procedures for dealing with marginal and damaged discs
  • Introduction to CD/DVD Inspector
  • Multiple practical exercises using CD/DVD Inspector to examine simple and complex discs
  • Generating reports and documents from CD/DVD Inspector

Paul Crowley is the founder of InfinaDyne and the author of the book "CD and DVD Forensics".  Paul is also the principal developer of the CD/DVD Inspector product.

Note: Candidates are required to bring a laptop with a CD or DVD drive.  Mac hardware running Windows is OK but Parallels under OS X can be problematic and isn’t recommended.  Windows XP is fine, and even older, slower laptops can be used.
